The price of a single stamp will increase from $1.15 to $1.44.
The increase in the price of stamps is not linked to the strike of 55,000 members of the Postal Workers’ Union. It was announced last September, while the strike took place from mid-November to mid-December.
Canada Post projects that this 25% increase will generate approximately $80 million in additional annual gross revenues for the year 2025.
She explains that this increase is “necessary to better align the price of stamps with the increasing cost of providing the service” throughout Canada.
“Every year we deliver fewer letters, but we have to deliver them to more addresses, which puts significant pressure on the company’s costs,” explains Canada Post.

For large companies that still send a lot of invoices, statements and letters, the increase in the price of stamps can nevertheless represent a significant amount.
For example, at Hydro-Québec, we expect this increase in the price of Canada Post stamps to represent additional costs of around 3 to 4 million in 2025.
