Classic for Guillaume Martin Guyonnet. After a change of team this winter, the cyclist from Orne is not rushing its calendar for the 2025 season.
“We asked ourselves the question of discovering new races, even starting in Australia,” admits the climber from Orne. “Finally, we said to ourselves that there was already lots of changesso we stuck to a classic racing program, with a few discoveries. »
A classic program
A repeat of the Classic Var, a important first meeting on Paris-Nice, the Tour of the Basque Country before the Ardennes classics, the Dauphiné in preparation for the Tour de France at home and a Tour of Spain to conclude the year…
And hearty menufrom February to September, for those who are used to long seasons: “It’s almost the program I asked for. »
A program influenced by that big names in cycling? “No, now there are always very good runners at the start of the races. »
“I’m still learning things”
After a first training course in December, the Groupama-FDJ rider will take off on January 16, 2025 for Tenerife and the Teide volcano: on the program, a three-week internship . A first for the person concerned.
I used to go to Etna. There, I will discover a new place.
The discovery seems the common thread of his offseason, with the arrival in his new team.
“It’s very different in the organization. For example, every evening, we had a conference on a specific theme. At 31 years old, I’m still learning things », admits Guillaume Martin Guyonnet. “I needed new challenges, new stimuli to progress and have a boost of energy. »
The Tour de France at home
During the next Grande Boucle, the cyclist will share the leadership rolewith David Gaudu. A change for someone who was often the sole leader in his previous training? “In truth, I have already shared this costume on many races. I’m used to it. »
If Guillaume Martin Guyonnet favors sensations over raw results, “this is the heart of things, the rest will come later”, he still points out highlights: “Paris-Nice, the Dauphiné, “where I have already made a podium”, and the Tour de France.
For this 2025 season, the biggest cycling race in the world will, once again, be the major meetingof his year. With an extra touch of soul: the passage of the peloton on its roads in Normandy Switzerland.
