How Dakhla seduces foreign tourists in the middle of winter

During the winter season, the mild region of Dakhla experiences a notable influx of foreign tourists, particularly from Europe, fleeing the cold waves plaguing their countries.

This charming destination attracts visitors of all age groups, especially older people who find it a warm and calming haven.

Thus, this European tourist, interviewed by Le360claimed to be a regular in this city. He said that his first trip to Morocco dates back 25 years, his preferred destination being, at the time, mainly the Atlas, where he particularly enjoyed hiking.

During one of his trips to Morocco, he had the opportunity to visit Dakhla with a friend. Since then, he has succumbed to the charms of this city which he began to visit almost every year to spend the winter there, he confides.

«Everything is going well for us here: the atmosphere is very friendly, the people are welcoming and friendly, the climate is mild, we are very peaceful and safe. I plan to come back here again and again», he says.

Same story from another tourist who said she was amazed by the city of Dakhla which she found magnificent. “The landscape is very beautiful, the sea is flat, the sky is blue all the time, the weather is sunny in December, which breaks with the winter cold and allows us to experience a change. As soon as we wake up, we open the curtains, we are immediately thrown into nature and we are in t-shirts all day“, she rejoices.

She is enthusiastic about being able to practice activities that are popular in Dakhla, such as surfing and bike rides, and just as much enjoys the pleasure of watching the sunset in the desert. “I highly recommend this city», she exclaims.

Two seasons equally pleasant to experience

For his part, Hamid Boussetta, investor in the tourism sector, emphasizes that Dakhla stands out by the fact that it has two seasons that are equally pleasant to live in. The first is the wind season which is conducive to all water sports such as surfing, wing foiling, sailboating, catamaran…

The second season, between November and February, is characterized by weak winds and good weather with a climate similar to that of Asia, he adds. According to him, it is the “summer of Dakhla” season. During this period, tourists can also practice a multitude of activities, including off-roading (driving or piloting with all-terrain vehicles).
