During a press conference in Kolda, Professor Sanoussi Diakité, training and integration system engineer, advised the promotion of nine sectors to offer stable jobs to young Senegalese. The latter thus suggests massive recruitment in autonomous, non-profit programs where production would generate both workers’ wages and guarantee employment for all young people.
According to Professor Diakité, by prioritizing these sectors, it would be possible to make work an essential engine of economic growth. It details that to guarantee productive and sustainable employment, emphasis should be placed on agriculture, livestock breeding, crafts, agri-food processing, the environment, digital technology, transport, infrastructure and fishing.
He also underlined that the absence of solutions in terms of employment is explained by too much emphasis on the logic of revenue, rather than that of production. Professor Diakité also deplores the fact that independent researchers and inventors are often neglected within the regional innovation ecosystem, which tends to favor universities, research centers, industries and engineering schools.
The specialist, however, welcomed the State initiative aimed at creating regional centers to support local development. This information was shared by our colleagues at the APS, who also reported his intervention.
