Atari unveils its new portable console for retro games at CES 2025

Old-timers will perhaps be tempted by this new video game toy. At CES 2025, the technology show which takes place in Las Vegas every year, brings together the most beautiful innovations that the worlds of health, automobiles and sextech have seen. Video games are also establishing themselves as a favorite subject even if it is rare to see consoles in circulation. Iconic manufacturers prefer to manage their communication privately. However, in addition to rumors about the Nintendo Switch 2, a second portable console has been spotted.

The Atari Gamestation Go is a brand new machine allowing you to play your favorite licenses, provided that they come from retrogaming. At first glance, the console looks exactly like its modern counterparts. However, there are some significant differences. It not only has a directional cross and buttons, but also a number pad, trackball and wheel.

The Atari Gamestation Go therefore does away with the traditional analog sticks that we find on all of our controllers today. More suited to older games, these types of controls were added to the console interface for a more intuitive and above all more immersive experience with certain games of the time. Its design also aligns with current standards and appears to be the spiritual baby of Nintendo Switch OLED and a Rog Ally.

Already 200 official games

In terms of operation and content, Atari says its Gamestation Go will hold 200 games in its internal memory, with more titles on the way. However, you should not expect new releases every month, but rather satisfy your gaming curiosity with gems from the past, as well as some modernities that the company has not detailed. For the younger generation, this will be the way to discover the titles that rocked their parents' childhood.

We are still missing a lot of details regarding the size of the screen, its technical characteristics or even the power of the console, but the idea of its arrival on the market already excites enthusiasts. The price and availability date of the machine are also unknown to us at the moment.

The Atari Gamestation Go is therefore not available for sale. The example present at CES 2025 may not be the final version of the product, the show is full of concepts and other prototypes of all kinds. However, the brand has been marketing updated versions of its old home consoles for years, as well as new iterations that allow you to reuse your old cartridges.
