According to the Moroccan Minister of Tourism, 17.4 million tourists entered Morocco in 2024, a figure up 20% compared to the previous year.

“Morocco achieves in advance the ambitious objective of its roadmap, initially planned for 2026,” welcomed the ministry, in a press release relayed by the Moroccan agency MAP. The kingdom thus welcomed nearly three million more tourists compared to 2023, according to the same source. The previous record was set in 2023 with 14.5 million admissions.

This new attendance record is notably driven by a tourism strategy (2023-2026) with a budget of 600 million euros, focused on “strengthening air capacity, promoting and stimulating investments in the hotel and tourist entertainment”, according to the Ministry of Tourism.

These strategic investments are part of Morocco’s preparations for hosting the African Cup of Nations (CAN) at the end of the year, then the World Cup in 2030 which will be organized jointly with Spain and Portugal. Authorities expect Morocco to receive 26 million tourists by 2030.

Note that tourism, a key sector of the Moroccan economy, represents 7% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and 827,000 direct jobs.
