From next April, the Cité des Alizés will be connected to three major French cities, Paris, Lyon and Nantes. These new direct airlines will strengthen Essaouira’s position as a leading tourist destination while meeting growing demand.
From April, Ryanair will inaugurate direct flights between Essaouira and Paris-Beauvais airport, establishing a much-anticipated air bridge. In May, EasyJet will relaunch the line between Essaouira and Lyon Saint-Exupéry, interrupted since the Covid-19 pandemic. Finally, in July, it will be the turn of the Transavia company to offer rotations between Essaouira and Nantes, which should increase traffic to the city from the west of France.
A strategy focused on tourist attractiveness
According to the commander of Essaouira-Mogador Airport, Abdelmounaim Aoutoul, “these new air connections are part of a global strategy aimed at strengthening the tourist attractiveness of Essaouira, while offering travelers better connectivity with key destinations in France.”

These new air routes are in addition to tourism promotion efforts which enabled the city to record a record influx in 2024, welcoming more than a million visitors, he said.
-Indeed, statistics from Essaouira-Mogador airport confirm this increase in power. Between January and September 2024, passenger traffic reached 171,892 travelers, an increase of almost 30% compared to the same period in 2023, which had 132,553 passengers.
This growth is supported by regular flights to several major European cities, but also a direct connection with Tangier at the national level.
