SENEGAL-ECONOMY / The establishment of territorial centers is an emergency, according to the President of the Republic – Senegalese Press Agency

Dakar, Jan 9 (APS) – The President of the Republic declared that he considers as an emergency the establishment of the eight territorial poles of the country, which are, in his eyes, the “epicenters of the success of economic and social policy ” of the State.

”The head of state has […] underlined the urgency of preparing the operational establishment of the territorial poles, epicenters of the success of Senegal’s economic and social policy, reports the press release from the Council of Ministers of Wednesday January 8.

These future economic spaces must be associated with “emblematic projects to be launched in each entity, consistent with the national transformation agenda”, the national development program “Senegal 2050” to be implemented in the coming years , said Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

The ability to generate jobs will be the government’s priority when operating the territorial hubs, according to the Head of State.

”In this perspective of revitalizing territories, the employability and employment of young people must be priorities,” he said.

”This will involve accelerating the creation of vocational training centers, as well as optimizing mechanisms to promote entrepreneurship and employment of young people and women,” explained Mr. Faye.
