Lawyer, businesswoman and member of the candidacy committee for the organization of the 2030 World Cup and member of the executive committee of the Spanish Federation (RFEF), Maria Tato, took the stand against the media “El Español”, which accused of having economic interests with “the Moroccan government”, with the aim of “favoring the Kingdom in the race to organize the World Cup final.”

Guest of the radio “Onda Vasca”, Maria Tato indicated on Tuesday that she had initiated legal action against the said media, as well as those who echoed this “Fake news”.

“I have been working on this candidacy for two years,” she said during the ‘Con -tTxema Gutierrez program. My companies have never had any type of mercantile activity in Morocco.

Tato “cannot understand the reasons behind this relentlessness,” she says. “It’s an absolute attack on me and on a project of the importance of a World Cup,” she said indignantly.

“I’m tired of staying silent and putting up with things that aren’t true. I took legal action. I have had enough of biased, manipulated information with other interests,” she concluded.

Known for its anti-Moroccan editorial line, “El Español” had recently indicated that Maria Tato, also a member of the Executive Committee of the 2030 World Cup, “took advantage of her trips to Morocco to organize business meetings in the country “.

According to the publication, Ms. Tato would be involved in “controversial” decisions linked to the 2030 World Cup, in particular on the number of sites allocated and the choice of stadium for the final.

In 2022, “the Moroccan government designated her as Spain’s representative for investments in the Sahara,” according to the publication.
