The IRM has also placed the province of Luxembourg on yellow alert: “Between this Sunday evening and Monday evening, we are still forecasting cumulative precipitation between 25 and locally 35 mm mainly in the provinces of Namur and Luxembourg. Adding “the precipitation already fell on Sunday, the total cumulative precipitation over these two days could locally reach 50 to 70 mm in these provinces.”

These rains should have the effect of increasing flows again.

Vigilance is required on all waterways. A reassessment of the situation will be carried out depending on the weather conditions.

Dams to absorb rain

Concerning the eastern dams (Eupen, Gileppe), the potting reserves make it possible to absorb the rain. To the West (Ry de Rome and Eau d’Heure), the potting reserves are comfortable. The same goes for the Bütgenbach and Robertville dams.

According to IRM forecasts, cumulative precipitation amounts of between 25 and 35 millimeters (locally) are still possible this Monday in the provinces of Namur and Luxembourg. Taking into account the rain that already fell on Sunday, the total cumulative precipitation over the last 48 hours could locally reach 50 to 70 mm in these provinces, recalls the SPW. We will also have to fear this Monday afternoon wind gusts of between 80 and 90km/h, or even more very locally.

The next few days, from Tuesday to Thursday, should also be affected by new disturbances, some of which could be of a winter nature on the heights of the country.

Protect homes

It is advisable to protect homes (sandbags, boards, etc.) by securing any exterior object (garden furniture or other) that could be carried away by water or wind, or by clearing drains, gutters and gutters. Activities near rivers and in the forest are also strongly discouraged over the next few days.

The MRI has placed the whole of Belgium on yellow alert: “This Monday afternoon, an area of precipitation will cross our country from west to east. It may temporarily be accompanied by gusts of 80 to 90 km/h, or even more locally.
