The restoration of the porch of the Saint-Sauveur church in Fours-en-Vexin, located in Vexin-sur-Epte (Eure), will cost a little more than expected. During the last municipal council meeting, on December 18, elected officials voted for a increase in porch restoration workamounting to 36 870€. At the municipal council meeting of October 2, the amount amounted to more than €34,800.

The reason for this increase? “At the request of the architect of Bâtiments de , a edge rafter has been added in the estimate to enlarge the roof exit and protect the gable of the porch,” explained Fabrice Caudy, deputy mayor in charge of finances.

In detail, the work is subsidized up to 35% by the Drac (Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs), 25% by the Department via its “My village, my love” system. The self-financing of the municipality of Vexin-sur-Epte amounts to €14,747, including collection of donations from the Heritage Foundation.

“This is a remarkable piece”

“As a reminder, the restoration work on the porch involves repairing the flashing, repairing the roof flashing between the south gutter wall of the nave and the porch, maintaining the porch roof, restoring the soil in the northwest corner of the nave next to the baptistery. A general restoration project can be considered at a later stage and is not an emergency,” continues Fabrice Caudy.
