Redevelopment of the Bordeaux ring road

The Bordeaux ring road, a vital artery for urban traffic, will be the subject of significant work for seven months. This project aims to develop a new auxiliary lane between interchanges 17 (, ) et 18 (Cadaujac, Villenave-d’Ornon). The objective? Streamline traffic and reduce the (very) numerous traffic jams. At the same time, a cycle bridge will be installed on the François-Mitterrand bridge, with entry into service planned for 2026.

Reinforcement of the foundations of the Pont de Pierre

An emblematic monument of Bordeaux, the stone bridge nonetheless remains a colossus with feet of clay. From May 2025, its foundations will be reinforced by the installation of concrete piles anchored 25 meters deep, replacing the aging wooden structures. At the same time, this project, estimated at 50 million euroswill lead toComplete shutdown of line A throughout the summer. Pedestrians and cyclists will however be able to continue crossing the bridge. Perhaps a return to the cable car project in Bordeaux to overcome this problem?

New TGV maintenance center in Marcheprime

Located between Bordeaux and Arcachon, the town of Marcheprime will host a new maintenance center for TGVs. Spanning 28,000 m², this installation will be able to simultaneously maintain up to 20 trainsets. With an investment of 150 million euros, the project should thus generate around a hundred direct jobs. However, not everyone is necessarily happy. Local residents, opposed to the clearing necessary for construction, tried to stop the project, without success.

Protection of the Coastline in Lacanau

Faced with coastal erosion, Lacanau is intensifying its coastal protection program. In 2025, the teams will concentrate their efforts on the central plot, near the first aid station, by moving the buried networks in order to secure the area against rising water. Furthermore, the structural work will begin during the winter of 2025-2026, as part of a global plan which protects the coasts until 2030.

A, B, C, D… Bordeaux Métropole continues to recite the alphabet through its transport network! After the recent launch of line G in 2024, it is the turn of line H to see the light of day. This new line will cross the boulevards and take the bridges Chaban-Delmas and Simone-Veil. With fewer stops, but more passages, this express relay will offer an efficient alternative to the tramway.

Progress of the Bordeaux- LGV

Already called into question in 2024, the High Speed Line project linking Bordeaux to Toulouse continues to raise eyebrows. In 2025, SNCF plans preparatory work, including network diversions and the installation of site bases. Despite local opposition and environmental concerns, the project is moving forward, aiming to reduce travel time between and Toulouse approximately 1 hour and 5 minutes.
