Traffic on the provincial road linking Targuist to Chakrane, in the province of Al Hoceima, was restored on Tuesday, thanks to the constant mobilization of intervention teams reporting to the provincial directorate of Equipment, Transport and logistics, actively engaged in the snow removal operation on this axis.
In a statement to MAP, the provincial director of Equipment, Transport and Logistics in Al Hoceima, Youssef Eshaimi, stressed that management teams, in coordination with local authorities, intervened to clear the road provincial No. 5204 linking Targuist to Chakrane passing through the commune of Bni Ammart, noting that the road was reopened this Tuesday morning, which helped to facilitate the movement of citizens and goods.
The specialized teams on the ground, made up of engineers, technicians and workers, acted quickly and efficiently to accomplish this mission as quickly as possible, he explained, noting that the provincial management, which has of approximately 16 pieces of equipment, including 6 snow-clearing machines, mobilized several machines and materials, including trucks, graders and snow-clearing machines.
The teams also spread salt on national road No. 2 linking Chefchaouen to Al Hoceima passing through Bab Berred, noted Eshaimi, specifying that this operation, essential in winter, aims to prevent the formation of ice, through the deployment of trucks equipped with spreading devices to intervene proactively and regularly, with a view to ensuring the effectiveness of interventions.
The provincial director recalled that the province of Al Hoceima, which is distinguished by mountainous terrain that is difficult to access, is experiencing significant snowfall that can last several months and affect hundreds of kilometers of national, regional and provincial roads.
He noted that these snowfalls sometimes cause disruptions or traffic cuts on certain roads, notably national road no. 2 linking Chefchaouen to Al Hoceïma, national road no. 8 between Targuist and Taounate, regional road no. °509 linking Issaguen to Lakhlafa, as well as provincial roads n°5204 and n°4115 linking Moulay Ahmed Cherif to El Jebha.
As part of preparations for the winter season, the provincial Directorate of Equipment has taken several proactive measures, with a view to implementing appropriate solutions and disseminating information on the state of the roads through different communication channels. communication.
Among these measures are the activation of the duty service, the mobilization of the necessary human and logistical resources, the strategic repositioning of machines near the roads most exposed to snowfall, as well as the strengthening of coordination between provincial authorities and local authorities, the royal gendarmerie and neighboring provincial directorates.
