Météo-France has placed four departments in the north of France on orange snow-ice alert for the day of Wednesday January 8. These are Seine-Maritime, Somme, Pas-de-Calais and Nord. The meteorological organization warns, in its bulletin published Tuesday at 4 p.m., against a “unremarkable winter episode”more “significant enough to make driving conditions difficult”.
“In the middle of the day on Wednesday, the disturbance which hit the country on Tuesday is gradually moving northwards. Upon contact with colder air to the north, precipitation becomes snowy from Upper Normandy to Hauts-de-France »explains Météo-France, adding that this precipitation should weaken during the night from Wednesday to Thursday. Stacks of 5 to 10 centimeters Snow is expected, Météo-France further specifies.
Light frosts are forecast again during the night from Wednesday to Thursday, leaving the roads still slippery.
