The coach and head coach of the French team, Didier Deschamps, is expected to announce on Wednesday that he will leave his position after the next Soccer World Cup, several French media reported on Tuesday.
L’Équipe and RMC Sport are among the media which announced the departure of the 56-year-old, whose contract will expire after the 2026 World Cup.
Deschamps, who won the World Cup as a player, became Les Bleus head coach in July 2012 and led France to the World Cup title in 2018 with a victory over Croatia in the final.
At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, France once again reached the final, this time losing to Argentina.
Europe will send 16 teams to the next World Cup, which will include 48 nations for the first time and will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, in 2026.
