National Architect’s Day: Water difficulties at the heart of the 39th edition

The National Council of the Order of Architects (CNOA), in partnership with the Ministry of Housing, is organizing in Fez, on January 14, the 39th edition of the National Architect’s Day. This major event will be held under the theme “The Citizen Architect facing climate change: The issue of Energy and Water”.

The National Architect’s Day, established in homage to the historic speech delivered by the late Hassan II on January 14, 1986 in Marrakech, is part of a dynamic of reflection this year in the face of major climatic challenges, the organization says. for whom this theme summarizes the expectations and commitments of Moroccan architects.

And he continued that Morocco, like many countries, is bearing the brunt of the consequences of climate change: prolonged droughts, water shortages, and ecological disruptions. And faced with these challenges, the role of the citizen architect proves crucial by adopting innovative solutions, respectful of ecosystems and adapted to local specificities. This means, according to the organization, that architects are at the heart of sustainable transformation.

This day of January 14 will be marked by conferences and debates, offering a platform for exchange around themes linked to energy and water management. It will explore architectural strategies aimed at strengthening the resilience of Moroccan buildings and cities.

On this occasion, Mr. Chakib Benabdellah, President of the National Council of the Order of Architects (CNOA), declared: “As architects, we have a civic responsibility of prime importance. Our designs must anticipate future climate crises while meeting present needs. This day is a call for collective mobilization to place architecture at the service of sustainability and the preservation of our resources.

This edition aims to reaffirm the role of architects in adapting to climatic realities. It aims to instill a collaborative dynamic between professionals, decision-makers and citizens for a sustainable future…
