Six months after deciding to leave Red Star, which he had promoted to Ligue 2, Habib Beye has still not found a club to bounce back from. It's not for lack of having had leads and, moreover, Beye has been extremely close to sitting on the Nantes bench in recent weeks. But the affair ultimately collapsed. On RMC Sport, Daniel Riolo has revealed behind the scenes of the case in recent hours.
According to him, the point which derailed the affair was the possible presence of Grégory Dupont in Beye's staff. A name that excited the Kita to the point of creating impatience that eventually turned into disappointment. “They spoke with Conceicao but there was never really any question of him coming. On the other hand, with Habib Beye, it was complete except that in the constitution of the staff, he did not have a performance manager. When the Kitas knew that there was perhaps the possibility that Grégory Dupont would come (with Beye) – who is a big name among performance managers – it excited them a little because he worked with Zidane and he is extremely respected. The Beye clan called Greg Dupont to see if he was coming but he told them he couldn't decide that quickly. Kita called (Beye) back in the evening: 'he (Dupont) is coming or not?'. 'No, maybe he won't come.' “Oh no, we’ll let it go then.” But who is important, the physical preparation or the coach? It’s all the madness of the Kita family,” says Riolo.
Grégory Dupont, the point that changed everything
The latter, who assures that “Kombouaré, it was 100% finished” at the time of the discussions with Beye, reveals the astonishing impatience of the Kita clan in this matter. “Habib Beye was in Paris and he was told to come to Nantes the next day, Friday 20, to make the presentation before going on the bench for the (Coupe de France) match against Drancy. Beye said: 'no, I can't take the team like that, I won't have time, put in a temporary worker from the club'. The leaders said: 'oh yes, maybe we will do that'. In the end, things collapse because he can't free Greg Dupont,” explains Riolo.
