Following a report made to the Departmental Directorate for Population Protection (DDPP), an inspection was carried out at a butcher's shop in Bobigny, in Seine-Saint-Denis, on December 31. Result: thirteen violations noted in terms of health rules and an emergency closure decided by the prefecture services on January 3, reports The Parisian.
The business, which presented itself as “100% halal”, sold wild pig meat. “Fourteen wild boar carcasses and several pieces of vacuum-packed wild boar meat were found in a cold room,” the Seine-Saint-Denis prefecture told our colleagues.
Already closed twice in the past
On the customer side, there is amazement and anger. They assure that the butcher's never mentioned the sale of wild boar on its stalls. While some deplore the closure of the establishment, others point out the unsanitary conditions of the premises.
And for good reason, the butcher's shop, which also offered catering and parcel delivery services, has already been singled out twice for health-related failings. In December, inspectors notably noted the presence of pests, a “lack of manual hygiene” and even poor management of the cold chain.
The butcher's curtain will remain closed until further notice until action has been taken to resolve the problems.
