A sordid discovery. A murder investigation was opened after law enforcement found the body of a man buried in the garden of a house in Coutras, Gironde, on Tuesday afternoon, the Libourne public prosecutor announced. in a press release.
“The man, aged 47, had been missing for several days,” explains Loïs Raschel. According to Sud-Ouest, an alert for a worrying disappearance was received Tuesday afternoon by the Gironde gendarmes, after a man indicated that he had not heard from his brother and his nephew.
According to the regional daily, this relative then went to the home of the victim’s brother-in-law, the daily not specifying whether the latter is the missing brother or nephew. He then discovered disturbed earth and a hole dug at the bottom of the property’s garden.
The gendarmes, who were alerted, arrived on the scene and discovered the body of the 47-year-old man under a mound of earth, wrapped in a bloody blanket. The brother-in-law was placed in police custody, again according to Sud-Ouest. An autopsy is planned for this Wednesday at the Bordeaux forensic institute.
The investigation was entrusted to the Libourne research brigade, as well as the Bordeaux research section. Furthermore, “in view of the first elements collected during the investigation, the Libourne public prosecutor’s office relinquished responsibility today in favor of the criminal division of the Bordeaux public prosecutor’s office”, specifies the prosecutor.
