a dynamic cultural activity punctuates the winter months in Balagne

Balagne has long been the scene of dense cultural activity but unevenly distributed over the calendar. The numerous summer festivals and events are followed by a less busy but equally qualitative period. With theater, shows and conferences, winter 2025 marks no pause. On the contrary, the offer seems even more extensive than in other years.

“This is the first time that we have organized a theater course over two consecutive weekendssays Marie-Elise Luiggi, of the theater company I Luminelli, at Algajola. We can have up to 16 trainees and there are still a few places left. These are courses on the theme of “burlesque character” that we organize with the Eureka theater company on the Algajola station platform. Then, on top of that, we give theater classes every week for children and adults, and we run basket-making workshops on a voluntary basis. Finally, it is also in winter that we organize our association's meal. “

Conferences offered to the public

Like every winter, the municipal social action center of Bald offers a cycle of free conferences at Cardellu or guided tours. Activities mainly dedicated to seniors but open to all. Several themes will be covered: a conference by Laetizia Castellani on January 11, a conference by Marcel Ruffo and Cendrine Delattre on January 18, a visit to Calvi on February 8, sophrology on March 8 or even a guided tour of the prince's castle Pierre with Olivier Bianconi, April 5.

The U Svegliu calvese association also offers free monthly conferences in the La Poudrière room. With the poet Petru Leca in January, the viticulture historian Fabien Gaveau in March and the art historian Janine Vittori in April, the weekends promise to be lively in the citadel.

“All our conferences are freespecifies François Canava, the president of the association. We have a loyal audience, which corresponds to a gauge ranging from 30 people to 80 people. There is still an audience, even in winter. Depending on the subject, there is a different audience, around a core of faithful. It is an audience which participates, which exchanges, which asks questions. The Svegliu calvese has always offered entertainment in winter, particularly in the theater, with Orlando for adults and Vanina for children, with an average of a dozen participants.”

At the end of March, a sound reading is co-organized by U Svegliu calvese, in collaboration with the Emma lab association. The latter also goes out of its way to offer theater, circus, dance and singing workshops. As well as the L'Aria association which, from its Giunsani theater, encourages artistic creation throughout the year.

In short, in Balagne, culture never sleeps.
