SENEGAL-COLLECTIVITIES-PERSPECTIVES / Territorial clusters: local actors in Diourbel invited to identify the region’s potential (governor) – Senegalese press agency

Diourbel, January 6 (APS) – The governor of the Diourbel region Ibrahima Fall called, on Monday, the actors of this administrative district to anticipate the start of the territorial centers, by identifying the potential that this part of the center of the country abounds.

“We are talking about territorial hubs. Diourbel and Louga must constitute one of the eight centers announced. And it is up to us to anticipate by identifying development projects in the Diourbel region, drawing on the region’s potential,” said the governor.

He spoke during the ceremony presenting New Year’s greetings to members of the regional development committee (CRD) of Diourbel.

According to Ibrahima Fall, “the primary vocation” of the territorial centers is to bring the administration closer to the populations but also, by ensuring that development projects and initiatives come from the base.

The governor also asked the association of CRD members to organize a meeting to share the content of the new framework, recently made public by the new authorities, with all local stakeholders.

To this end, he suggested that they rely on the regional development directorate (ARD) and the regional planning service, calling on technical services and territorial stakeholders to “start thinking to facilitate the implementation of this pole territory “.

This approach, he continued, “will allow us to see the position and the role that the Diourbel region will play in the implementation of this public policy framework”.

Ibrahima Fall also informed the audience of his wish to continue the tours started last year and which constitute, according to him, “a moment of exchange with the populations but also of collecting their concerns in order to report to those concerned in order to provide solutions.

“The Vision Senegal 2050 framework will take the country out of an unbalanced territorial model and the macrocephaly of Dakar, towards a coherent and harmonious model of eight competitive territorial poles,” declared the Minister of Urban Planning, Territorial Communities and Development. ‘Territorial Planning, Balla Moussa Fofana, during a workshop dedicated to this program, last October.

He specified that the option of the State of Senegal was to “privilege the territory, basing its public action on strategies that focus on the local and the community, with the objective of promoting endogenous development, from the eight territorial poles”.
