Patrick Kane took advantage of a power play to score in overtime and the Red Wings beat the Ottawa Senators 3-2 on Tuesday night in Detroit.

Following a faceoff won by Dylan Larkin, Kane grabbed the puck and immediately fired a wrist shot that fooled Anton Forsberg.

Larkin also scored a power play goal in the first period, and Joe Veleno scored in the third period for the Red Wings, who obtained their fifth victory in a row.

Larkin scored a goal in his fourth straight game.

Alex started the game for the Red Wings, but he was replaced in the first period after suffering an upper body injury. In relief, Cam Talbot gave up twice on 23 pitches.

Brady Tkachuk and Thomas Chabot responded for the Senators, who have lost five of their last six outings. Forsberg stopped 30 pucks.

The Ottawa squad completed its nine-game road trip, the longest in team history. She recorded a record of 4-4-1.
