More than a year ago, a man's life changed after two colleagues injected compressed air into his rectum using a pneumatic compressor. The trial of the employees of the AFS Sedan factory (Ardennes), which was to open on Monday January 6, was finally postponed until next June. The company could be found civilly liable.

Two former employees of the AFS Sedan company, in the Ardennes, appeared on Monday January 6 before the criminal chamber of the Charleville-Mézières court for “violence aggravated by two circumstances followed by incapacity for more than 8 days”. Among the aggravating circumstances, we find in particular the notion of a meeting.
On October 24, 2023, in the factory specializing in the production of tools for the steel industry, the two employees injected, with a pneumatic compressor, compressed air into the rectum of a fellow employee.
An act which immediately turned into a tragedy, permanently leaving the victim with serious injuries. Two complaints were filed: one by the victim and her family, the other by the company.
But this Monday, the court decided to postpone the hearing until June 23, at the request of one of the defense lawyers, in order to be able to summon the AFS company to appear. The latter could therefore be held responsible by being declared civilly liable.
Unlike at the start of the investigation, the charge of mutilation and permanent disability was ultimately not accepted. This is why the trial does not depend on the departmental criminal court. The defendants therefore face up to five years of imprisonment.
