At the entrance to the village of Brandivy, near Grand-Champ in Morbihan, impasse des Chênes Verts, the night of New Year's Eve on December 31 could have turned into a tragedy for the family of Jean-François and Estelle.

Shortly before midnight, their neighbors, who had gone out to celebrate the New Year in the subdivision, saw that the house of the couple and their three young children was on fire. But, just back from vacation, everyone was sound asleep. Neighbors rushed to wake them up.

“It is also thanks to God that everything ended well: my children are there, my wife too. We put things into perspective when we see all the misfortunes there are in the world. “

« On a just had time to take the kids out and leave the house », says Jean-François. “We can never thank our neighbors and the firefighters enough.” For Jean-François and Estelle, very religious, “ it is also thanks to God that everything ended well : my children are there, my wife too. We put things into perspective when we see all the misfortunes there are in the world.”

Solidarity chain

Having lived in Brandivy for a year and a half, the family was also able to measure the surge of solidarity that was immediately triggered. While the family tried to recover from the shock and organize themselves, the town hall called the owners of the lodges to try to find a slightly more sustainable solution. “Unfortunately we do not have emergency accommodation. This type of event raises the question, we will think about it,” says Mayor Guillaume Grannec. But he still managed to offer four homes to the victims.

Housing and clothing

“Finally it was another one that we were able to find,” rejoices Jean-François. Thanks to friends at the parish, we have accommodation and clothes. We really want to give thanks to God. »

Now it's time for the insurance companies to work, who will have to determine the causes of the fire before considering repairing their house.
