An individual armed with a knife attempted to enter this Monday, around 10:00 a.m., the buildings located at 16 rue de la Loi in Brussels, the address housing the offices of the Belgian Prime Minister. The man was quickly subdued by law enforcement present on the scene, police said.

BRUSSELS, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) — An individual armed with a knife tried to enter this Monday, around 10:00 a.m., the buildings located at 16 rue de la Loi in Brussels, the address housing the offices of the Belgian Prime Minister. The man was quickly subdued by law enforcement present at the scene, police said.

According to the authorities, the individual made threats against military personnel before being neutralized. He was then transferred to the police station for questioning. No injuries were reported among the police.

Prime Minister for Current Affairs, Alexander De Croo, expressed his gratitude to law enforcement for their rapid and effective intervention, emphasizing the importance of constant vigilance in the face of potential threats.

An investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the incident and the reasons which pushed the individual to act in this way. Security services were reinforced around government institutions following this event.
