Increased life expectancy
In 2023, in France, men aged 65 can hope to live 10.5 years without limitation due to health problems, while women can live 12 ans under these conditions.
This is what reveals a study by the Directorate of Research, Studies, Evaluation and Statistics (DREES), published on December 31, 2024. Since 2008, disability-free life expectancy is progressing regularly, and this improvement even exceeds that of overall life expectancydespite the temporary impact of Covid-19.

This indicator, which measures years lived without disability in daily activitiesmainly concerns the period following working life. It is an important marker to evaluate quality of life and is integrated among national wealth indicators in line with the National Health Strategy.
On average, a woman can live in good health up to 77 years old et a man up to 75.5 years old.
In 2022, France was placed at 5ᵉ rang in Europe for women and at 7ᵉ rang pour men in terms of disability-free life expectancy, exceeding the European average 2 years and 6 months for women et 1 year and 4 months for men.
France 2030: relocation of essential medicines
This support is part of the priority of the Government to reconquer health independence by reducing dependence on extra-European imports for crucial medicines.
These projects are in addition to the 7 initiatives previously supported, mobilizing a total of 50 million euros in public funding to generate 300 million euros industrial investments.
With these efforts, 42 essential medicinescurrently vulnerable to imports, will benefit from increased production on the national territory.
