7% increase in fishing landings at the port of Sidi Ifni

The National Fisheries Office (ONP) indicated that the quantities of coastal and artisanal fishing products landed at the port of Sidi Ifni recorded an increase of 7% at the end of November 2024.

In its latest report on coastal and artisanal fishing statistics in Morocco, the ONP specifies that the quantities landed during this period amounted to 62,890 tonnes, for an estimated market value of 267.233 million dirhams (MDH), i.e. a decrease of -1% compared to the same period of 2023 (59,035 tonnes/270,083 MDH).

Likewise, the quantities of pelagic fish landed at the port of Sidi Ifni increased by 7% at the end of last November, to reach 61,610 tonnes, achieving a value of 199,948 MDH, a drop of minus 2%, against 57,673 tonnes/204,273 MDH for the year 2023.

Regarding the quantities of white fish landed during the first eleven months of 2024, they decreased by minus 6%, or 894 tonnes, recording an increase in financial value of 7% (32.911 MDH).

Concerning molluscs, the quantities landed fell by minus 5% to reach 366 tonnes, for a value of 30.202 MDH, an increase of 1%, while the quantities landed of crustaceans fell by minus 24% to reach 21 tonnes ( 4.172 MDH, a drop of -18%).

At the national level, the marketed quantities of coastal and artisanal fishing products totaled 1,233,568 tonnes at the end of November 2024, an increase of 1%, compared to the same period of the year 2023.

According to the ONP, the value of these quantities landed amounts to around 10 MDH, up 6% compared to last year.
