Météo France has placed the Jura department on yellow alert for a risk of strong winds, from Sunday evening until the end of Monday January 6. In 2e part of the night from Sunday to Monday, the south wind will strengthen in the Saône Valley, Bresse, Revermont with gusts which could exceed 70 km/h. At the end of the night, these winds will increase in intensity in the south of Burgundy Franche-Comté with gusts that can exceed 80 km/h. At the end of the morning, this phenomenon will intensify further with gusts reaching 80 to 90 km/h, locally 95 km/h in Revermont.
Melting of the snowpack
In the afternoon, the wind will weaken a little with gusts closer to 80 km/h. On the Jura plateaus, it could also exceed 80 km/h at least in the morning, accelerating the melting of the snow cover. The Jura prefecture asks motorists to be careful when traveling and to pay particular attention to objects that could be thrown by the gusts. The electricity network could be disrupted. During windy periods, trees regularly fall on lines and cause outages.
