The calm after the storm. After the painful night and from a stronger tragedy which cost the life of a 20-year-old young man and left many injured near Beaune, the weather clearly calmed down this Sunday.
Freezing rains and negative temperatures have given way to sunshine and mild weather. Once again, this scenario will be short-lived.
Yellow warning for winds and floods Monday
From the start of the week, Monday, the Côte-d'Or will be crossed by frequent periods of showers, like the whole of France. “No region escapes bad weather,” notes La Chaine Météo on its site.
Winds of up to 70 km/h or 80 km/h are expected to blow across the area. This pushed Météo France to place the department on yellow alert for the winds. But also to floods. Temperatures will range between 9 and 12 degrees in the afternoon.
A disruption from Wednesday
Tuesday, the day “will be more pleasant, with clearings,” indicates Météo News. The wind will be less strong.
The following day, Wednesday, marks the arrival of a new disturbance, due to a conflict of air masses, between a warm spell coming from Spain and the cold which will persist from the British Isles. This will be the start of a very rainy arc, where we can expect 15 mm on Wednesday and 10 mm on Thursday.
The Weather Channel warns: “We expect a lot of water throughout the week. A situation which could cause risks of overflows or even flooding. But also a risk of flooding of rivers linked to the partial melting of snow in the Vosges, Jura and Massif Central.”
Drier and colder from Friday
Finally, Friday should bring a marked improvement, with drier and sunny conditions… but cooler. “The fault lies with a continental easterly flow,” according to Météo News.
Next weekend, the thermometer should fall below 0 again, offering temperatures down to -4. That’s 16 degrees difference compared to Monday afternoon!
