Northern lights, snow, storms… These phenomena marked the weather of the year 2024 in the Channel

Agon-Coutainville

Almost a year ago, the January 9, 2024a 10 centimeter layer of snow was observed in certain areas of the Center-Channel. This snow had held particularly on the coast, as here at the northern hold of Agon-Coutainville, where La Poulette, a small beach cabin emblematic of the seaside resort, was draped in a pretty white coat.

Pirou

The Saturday September 7of the thunderstorms fell on the west of the department, like here in Pirou, where a cloudarcus type, formed in front of a storm cell. Of heavy rain had then been recorded in Coutançais. Because of a flood which had given almost 60 millimeters in two daysthe paths of the Sainte-Croix fair in Lessay had turned into muddy streams.

Sciotot

In the evening of Thursday October 10at the last light of day, northern lights from a geomagnetic storm appeared in the sky of northern France, like here on the beach of Sciotot, in Les Pieux.

Coulouvray-Boisbenâtre

The Thursday November 21an air mass conflict took place over Normandy as the Caetano depression. Ce thermal contrast causedheavy snowfall, up to 30 centimeters in the South Channel.
