About sixty Kalashnikovs, automatic, semi-automatic pistols, submachine guns and ammunition : here is the loot stolen from the Baumel armory in Marguerittes.
Joined by France Bleu Gard Lozère, Rémi Nicolas, the mayor of the town, says: “The Baumel armory is known and recognized in the world of hunting and shooting enthusiasts, it is a reference well beyond the town and even of the department. »
A very secure place
The elected official visited the site this Thursday: “It’s a place that is secure, with alarm systems, video surveillance, armored doors and yet they knew where to go to steal what they were looking. It was mainly handguns that were stolen and not hunting rifles, for example. The investigation will tell, but we can think that it is banditry at the origin of this burglary. »
An investigation is of course underway. In a press release, Cécile Gensac, Public Prosecutor, confirms that a “flagrant investigation is being carried out by the Nîmes Research Section, under the direction of the Nîmes public prosecutor’s office”.
According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, the charges brought forward are those of “theft by an organized gang, possession and transportation of category B weapons in a group, and participation in a criminal association with a view to committing a crime.” »
