The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, accompanied by his Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, formalized the appointment of eight new members within the National Audiovisual Regulatory Council (CNRA). Among them, Aoua Bocar Ly-Tall, a recognized sociologist, whose appointment quickly sparked heated debates, particularly among supporters of the Pastef party.
On social networks, criticism was quick to emerge. Some of the Patriots recall controversial comments attributed to Ly-Tall in the past. Abass Djigo, for example, wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “She is part of the group that said: ‘Kou tok sa podiou ndey kén doula réy ndakh do dem tchi manifestation.’ I am Haal Pulaar, but she shamed me with her cynical ethnicism. She has no place here. »
Others denounce what they consider to be a lack of consistency with the values advocated by the presidential duo. Jamil Sow asks: “Do you still have in mind the atrocities experienced by the Senegalese nation under Macky Sall and his accomplices? You must not make room for them in the shadows.”
However, dissenting voices defend the nomination. Rokhaya Keita puts things into perspective: “If she has the skills, why not? If in the exercise of her duties she commits a mistake, then she will be released. »
Mor Sarr and other Internet users, for their part, are ironic about future nominations, evoking controversial figures from the past. Some, like Gougna Diop, believe that this choice constitutes a betrayal of the ideals of their political “Project”: “Forgiving does not mean naming people who have always insulted our PROS. »
In a climate marked by high expectations for the new executive, this appointment reflects a delicate balance between openness and loyalty to a demanding activist base. The debate around Aoua Bocar Ly-Tall reflects a persistent divide between political priorities and voters’ sensitivities. The Diomaye-Sonko duo will have to navigate these internal disagreements.
