In recent days, two Algerian influencers were arrested after publishing videos in which they called for attacks in . The first, “Zazou Youcef”, was placed in pre-trial detention in . The other influencer was arrested this Friday evening in Échirolles. He made death threats on social media.

He calls himself “Imad Tintin” on social networks. This 31-year-old Algerian is also subject to an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF). Three requests for consular passes were made to Algeria with a view to his expulsion, but no positive response.

Profiles advocating violence against opponents of the Algiers regime have multiplied in recent days on social networks

On the social network In his videos, the influencer calls for the rape, burning and killing of any individual who opposes the Algerian regime.

Like “Zazou Youcef”, these comments are seen by thousands of people. The latter is followed by more than 70,000 subscribers on his now deleted TikTok account. Chawki Benzehra also claims to have been threatened in his videos since he revealed the comments of this influencer. The political activist says he receives many hate messages: “By messages on social networks, they are insults, threats. What is worrying is that it comes from France. Before, it came much more from Algeria , but these are people who are here.”

According to Chawki Benzehra, profiles similar to these two influencers advocating violence against opponents of the Algiers regime have multiplied in recent days on social networks, particularly since the concessions granted by France to Morocco on Western Sahara and the Boualem Sansal affair.

In the evening, the prosecutor, Éric Vaillant, announced that the custody of the influencer “Imad Tintin” was extended and the facts were reclassified as direct provocation of an act of terrorism committed by means of a online public communication service. The penalty incurred is seven years in prison and a fine of 100,000 euros.
