A new edition of the operation “King cakes” of the Departmental Union of Orne Firefighters (UDSP61) was officially launched, early Januaryfor Epiphany. The principle is simple: for each king cake sold, the bakers of the Orne participants will donate 1 € to social works firefighters.

Do even better than last year

The main objective of the association is to ensure moral support et financier to all children whose firefighter parent (professional, volunteer or military) has died on or off duty. This also makes it possible to help firefighters and their families as well as young and former firefighters who may find themselves in difficulty.

In 2024, nine Ornaise bakeries (3 in Alençon, 1 in Couterne, 1 in Sées, 1 in Domfront, 1 in Chambois, 1 in Sainte-Scolasse and 1 in Mêle-Sur-) had participated. Thanks to their solidarity, €5,855 was raised.

Doing even better is the challenge set by honorary captain Dominique Maudoigt, referent of the operation and solidarity delegate of the UDSP61 department. He hopes that new bakeries and pastry shops will be added to the great solidarity movement. “If other bakers wish to join us, they are obviously welcome and can contact me,” he says.

New participants have already applied, particularly in the Perche à Saint-Maurice-Les-Charencey. All applications are welcome!
