SENEGAL-COLLECTIVITES-SANTE / Sédhiou: Dr Ibrahima Sy listens to grassroots health workers – Senegalese press agency

Sédhiou, Jan 4 (APS) – The Minister of Health and Social Action, Dr Ibrahima Sy, was in Sédhiou (south) on Friday to inquire about the working conditions of health workers at the base.

He was welcomed by the populations and local administrative authorities.

Health and social action personnel raised grievances linked, among other things, to the construction of health posts, health centers, the provision of ambulances and medical equipment.

The minister assured that the health concerns of the region will be treated as a priority, affirming to have taken note of the major regional projects, under the leadership of the governor and the regional health director.

Ibrahima Sy reaffirmed the State’s commitment, despite the financial challenges, to working to find solutions to the problems raised.

The minister recalled that health is one of the priorities of the Vision Senegal 2050 Transformation Agenda, the new framework for public policies.

He also mentioned the “Diomaye Plan for Casamance”, aimed at facilitating the settlement of populations displaced by the conflict in the south of the country and launching sustainable development in the region, with massive investments in the health sector, particularly in infrastructure.

The minister stressed the importance of research and innovation in the field of health, affirming that no intervention can have a significant impact without good knowledge of the problems of populations.
