In Aveyron, a new call for donations to support Mayotte

It is an Aveyron native from the island devastated by Cyclone Chido who is launching this appeal.

Bottles of water, baby diapers, cans of food… The first donations have already arrived at the Villefranche cross-fit gym. Originally from Mayotte, Mohamed Ali Houmadi, settled in Aveyron 22 years ago, is calling for donations. “At the beginning, I wanted to do it on my own scale to help my family. I got a lot of feedback from the Mahorese community in the area and friends from Villefranche, everyone showed solidarity”he explains.

The food is harvested by Mohamed, then stored in a room made available to the Aubin town hall, with donations from residents of the area. The Mahorais of West Aveyron then organized to send a container, when it was full, to the island in the heart of the Indian Ocean. “I have received feedback from my family. They are doing well but tell me that there is a lack of a lot of products on site, especially water and foodstuffs”adds the Villefranchois. “It’s important for us to support them through this ordeal.”

To make a donation, go to the two gyms (La Harde CrossFit and L'espace Fitness 12) at the Carrefour shopping center. All products are accepted.
