The cold continues to punctuate the beginning of this new year 2025. After several morning froststhe department of Seine-et-Marne has just been placed in vigilance orange for risk of snow and icece Saturday January 4, 2025.
According to Météo France specialists, an episode of snow and freezing rain is expected on the evening of Saturday January 4 on the north-eastern fringe of the country, hence the placement on orange vigilance of thirty departments.
Freezing rain
In Seine-et-Marne, the alert will be in effective from 6 p.m. to midnight. Meteorologists predict the arrival of rain with snow in the northern part of the department during the evening, around Meaux, Coulommiers or even Ferté-Gaucher and the Fontainebleau forest. “These rains could be freezing due to the low/negative temperatures on the ground, making traffic conditions particularly complicated between 6 p.m. and midnight,” informs the Météo 77 page. In fact, temperatures should not exceed 2-3° C and will drop overnight.
Be careful if you are driving!
For its part, Météo France recommends “adapting your behavior” to disruptions. “Traffic conditions can quickly become very difficult across the entire network, particularly in the forestry sector where falling trees can accentuate the difficulties,” they say, insisting on the fact that “ the risks of accidents are increased ».
The situation should improve this Sunday, January 5 with the rise in temperatures.
