After the ice, the wind. For this first weekend of the year 2025, a big gust of wind is expected in Seine-Maritime, notably Sunday January 5 with gusts of up to 80 km/h.
Precisely, this disturbance will arrive in the evening of Saturday “and will cross the land to the coast”, indicates to 76actu Meteo France. These gales will be observed mainly along the coast between Le Havre and Fécamp.
The high pressure is centered over the northwest of Ireland and will keep the weather cold. The anticyclone will then turn into a depression.
From Saturday evening, the rain will be there with, locally, “ a very temporary snow episode “. Caution: in contact with the cold on the ground, patches of ice can appear, especially in the countryside.
What is a weather depression?
When we talk about depression in a meteorological context, it is actually an area of low pressure. “The wind rotates around the heart of a depression counterclockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere,” explains Météo France. Like a balloon, the depression sucks in the surrounding air masses and lets them escape upwards. Very often, depressions announce bad weather.
Still low temperatures
Nothing exceptional for the month of January but note that you should not take off your clothes since the temperatures will be negative on Saturday January 4, around minus 2 degrees, mainly inland.
For Sunday, the thermometer should rise across the entire department, approaching ten degrees, still with very cloudy skies.
Vigilance on the coast
Also, themaritime prefecture of the Channel and the North Sea calls for great cautionthis weekend along the coast and at sea on a perimeter going from the tip of Penmarc'h in Brittany to the Belgian border
It is therefore recommended to:
- postpone sea trips;
- not to check your anchorage during the alert but to do so before and after or to be attentive to messages from departmental prefectures concerning travel along the coast;
- to check its equipment;
- to have a means of communication on oneself.
The return of snow on Wednesday?
Monday and Tuesday, rain will still be there in Seine-Maritime with “showers and showers” note the forecasters. On Wednesday, a new disturbance from the South could bring (again) rain “or perhaps snow” in places.
A weather forecast to follow.
