A sixty-year-old driver died Thursday January 2, 2025, after colliding head-on with a vehicle, while she was driving in the wrong direction on a highway in Pas-de-Calais, killing the driver of this car and seriously injuring her passenger, said the prefecture.
The driver, aged 61 according to the firefighters, went in the wrong direction at the end of the afternoon on the A16. It triggered a first accident at the Herquelingue toll gate, near Boulogne-sur-Mer (Pas de Calais), which did not cause any injuries, indicated the Pas-de-Calais prefecture.
Driver killed, passenger seriously injured
She continued on her way for around ten kilometers according to The Voice of the North and hit a car again. Its driver, aged 52, was killed, added the prefecture. The 46-year-old passenger was hospitalized in an absolute emergency, firefighters said.
The A16 was cut in the Paris-Boulogne-sur-Mer direction and a traffic jam of a few kilometers formed upstream of the accident, said the road surveillance unit of the zonal prefecture.
