An 18-year-old young man was taken into police custody for “attempted homicide”, being suspected of having injured three people with knives in the Isola 2000 ski resort (Alpes-Maritimes) during New Year's Eve.
This placement in police custody was announced by the Nice public prosecutor, Damien Martinelli, who specified that the events took place around 2 a.m. Three people were injured by stab wounds during a brawl, two of them seriously. “The vital prognosis of the two most seriously injured victims is no longer in jeopardy at this time”specified Damien Martinelli in a press release this Thursday morning.
The sought-after individual, who “presented himself voluntarily to the gendarmerie” Wednesday afternoon, has never been convicted in the past and “declares himself temporary”added the prosecutor. He was immediately taken into custody. According to initial information, this brawl broke out against a backdrop of “excessive alcohol consumption” during a dance evening, an annual event which attracts many vacationers to this station in the Nice metropolis.
The investigation, entrusted to the Puget-Théniers gendarmerie brigade, must still clarify the circumstances and motive of the facts. “Investigations are continuing to clarify the context and motive of the facts”indicated the Nice prosecutor’s office.
