More than 3,000 women in precarious situations in the province of Taourirt will benefit from medical campaigns organized by the Provincial Human Development Committee (CPDH) as part of the second program of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) relating to support for people in precarious situations.

Launched on December 24 and continuing until next March, these campaigns, carried out in partnership with the Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in Taourirt, the Provincial Delegation of National Mutual Aid and the Association of the fight against diabetes in Taourirt, tend to strengthen health services for the benefit of residents of areas exposed to the effects of the cold wave.

This initiative stopped off Tuesday at the Nakhla Reception Center, in the commune of El Aïoun Sidi Mellouk to provide medical services for the benefit of 101 women, who occasionally benefited from medical consultations in different specialties, as well as distribution of medicines free of charge.

During this campaign, beneficiaries were also informed and made aware of the dangers of hyperglycemia on their lives, which manifest themselves in particular through cardiovascular, eye and kidney diseases.

The Head of the “Social Action” department in the province of Taourirt, Abdelkader Aouragh, underlined in a statement to MAP that these medical campaigns, organized as part of the activation of the support program for people in precarious situations of the INDH, target more than 3,000 beneficiaries.

He explained that these campaigns will cover 33 reception centers and certain health centers located in the communes of the province, noting that recent days have seen the organization of three campaigns in the commune of El Aïoun Sidi Mellouk, where 165 women benefited from the services at the Aïn Lahjar Center, 311 at the Aïn Defla Center and 149 women at the Al-Wifak Center.

He added that the medical staff mobilized for this purpose ensures consultation and diagnosis of beneficiaries before determining the type of treatment or medical intervention that each case requires, to direct them towards the Taourirt provincial hospital for follow-up. by specialists.

For his part, the president of the Association to Fight Diabetes, Ahmed El Kafi, indicated that this initiative aims to provide medical and paramedical services to women beneficiaries, in addition to medical awareness and guidance.

He added that the campaigns carried out so far have resulted in the referral of 69 cases to specialties related to ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynecology, cardiology and vascular medicine, orthopedics, and other specialties. .

For their part, women beneficiaries highlighted the importance of this initiative which allowed them to benefit from certain medical and paramedical services, especially since the commune of El Aïoun Sidi Mellouk does not have laboratories to carry out medical analyses, and patients are therefore forced to travel to the town of Taourirt, located more than 50 kilometers from their commune.

They deplored that this long journey, which requires financial resources, is not easy, especially during this period of low temperatures.
