Do you have any memories with L’Orne Combattante?

Yes ! The last one dates back to the 2022 legislative elections, you assured media coverage of the countryside in Orne. I went to Tinchebray to support the deputy Jérôme Nury, alongside the senators of Orne, the president of the departmental council and elected officials of the region. Do you maintain a link with Orne today?

I was born in Flers and my father was mayor of Saint-Michel-des-Andainesso I have a link that is both a little nostalgic but joyful with the bocage. I was going to hunting with my father in the surroundings of Saint-Clair-de-Halouze and of course in the Andaine forest.

I think of Pagnol and the Bartavelles from The Glory of My Father: “in my little fists from which four golden wings hung, I raised the glory of my father towards the sky in front of the setting sun”, I was the woodcock of Norman bocage. I lived among paintings of pointing dogs, it's my heritage.

Orne is childhood memories then as a young veterinarian at Haras du Pin, the horse and the Gaullist roots of my vocation as an elected official.

“Orne is regularly on my travel agenda”

Orne is regularly on my agenda. travel. I went there last June at the invitation of Christophe de Balorre, the president of the departmental council, the opportunity for me to return to Haras du Pin.

I was able to discover the International Equestrian Sports Center (PISE), inaugurated very recently, in the presence of its director, Sébastien Leroux. A superb success. 2024 was a year of joy for French horse riding at the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris!

Do you still watch the local press? Does it play a role in the Senate which is the assembly of the territories?

The local press, when you are President of the Senate, is the press from all territories! So I watch with West France Orne edition, The Parisian (notably the Yvelines edition), Republican Echo and, of course, the news of Orne.

For the Chamber of Territories, this link with the regional daily press has a particular meaning, it is precious, I strive to receive them at least twice a year. They are at the heart of daily life French people and local realities.

Will you return to the Flers region soon?

I hope so. The preparation of budget pour 2025 is at the heart of my concerns for the coming weeks but when you are president of the Senatethe tree always follows its roots. See you soon!
