Between December 17 and December 23, 2024, several fires have occurred on the town of Les Sables d’Olonne in an area close to the city center.
These fires took place during the night and involved private trash bins.
The investigations undertaken by investigators from the Police station, with the support of the CSU of the Municipal Police, made it possible to identify the author of these fires.
This is a Sablais resident.
The SDIS Fire Brigade, which each time used human and material resources to put out these fires, filed a complaint; the repetition of these acts in an urban environment, in the middle of the night, could have had dramatic consequences for homes and the people living there.
This is why individuals, victims of these fires, have also filed complaints.
The alleged arsonist was summoned to a criminal hearing before the Judicial Court of Sables d'Olonne in January 2025.
He admitted to having set fire to trash cans and/or containers nine times.
According to the Police, he said “enjoy watching the action of the firefighters on these interventions”.
