They flourish in Île-de-France and France. While the ecological transition requires an evolution of uses, car sharing stations constitute a landscape to which citizens are increasingly accustomed. For several weeks, this has been the case in Alfortville (Val-de-Marne). In November 2024, the city launched two spaces reserved for the rental of around ten vehicles.
A subscription for 10 euros
Alfortville residents can go to 7 rue de Seineto the north of the town, and Cour Beethoven, near the Vert-de-Maisons station. This place was not chosen at random. It serves the RER D. To do this, the City has decided to enlist the services of the number one in the sector, citiesalready present in the largest metropolises, including Paris.
To benefit from this service, it is necessary to register at this link. Each resident of the municipality enjoys a subscription of 10 euros per monthwith three months free. The rental amounts to €3 per hour for the lowest end vehicles. An increase of 42 cents per kilometer is applied. For their part, users residing outside the municipality must pay 40 euros per month.
In a report published in 2023, the association of car-sharing players estimated that this service made it possible to reduce carbon footprint while developing soft mobility. Thus, 19,000 kilometers of car were transferred each year to the public transportthe trainthe bike and the marche.
Virtuous effects that seduce. Nearly half a million people had already used car sharing in 2023, an increase of 43 % in comparison with 2022. A thousand municipalities have stations. In Alfortville, another will open in spring 2024, at the Maisons-Alfort – Alfortville stationon the RER D.
