Visual artist based in Champ-du-Boult for around fifteen years, Claudie Caspar will present from January 6 to 12, 2025, and for the first time, “LIEUx”, his latest creation.
Born at Strasbourg in 1963, Claudie very early showed a keen interest in drawing and inventing stories. It is therefore no surprise that after a traditional school curriculum, she joined the University of Strasbourg where she obtained aMaster of Fine Arts then another museology in Mulhouse.
Already an artist working with associations and schools as well as travelers, Claudie obtained her CAPES to become a teacher. She will teach National Education for nearly 25 years.
But during all these years, due to lack of time, I had to put aside my artistic activities. Also, even if transmitting was and still is close to my heart, I decided a few years ago to leave teaching to devote myself to my creations.
Claudie then resumes her activities as a speaking artist. She trains and gets a state diploma in art therapy and also follows training in computer graphics, ceramics and engraving “in order to expand my creative possibilities”.
Today, Claudie Caspar will present to the general public for the first time its latest installation entitled “LIEUx”.
It's a project that was born when I was still living in Strasbourg. Originally, these were elements of a famous game of wooden cubes magnified 30 times. Monochrome was already present, as was the use of fragile materials.
A first installation presented at the time in a Strasbourg gallery. Then professional and family life took over the artist; the project remains in the pipeline. “And then, more recently, I resumed work on a new project. Always working with shapes, always with monochrome.”
Claudie begins to select various elements relating to packaging, “because they are fragile and ephemeral elements and yet made to contain and support” to make volumes. In her Chambourin workshop, she accumulates, combines, inventscreates: “I started small and then I couldn't stop. I needed to confront myself with space,” she reports, almost surprised by her own creation: an impressive imaginary universe which extends over around thirty square meters.
An entirely white universe which will be installed in the ebony setting of the performance hall.
I had imagined presenting the installation in an entirely white location. I find it very interesting to propose “LOCATIONS” in a dark place. The dialogue that takes place between the white elements and the black environment is very interesting.
An “invitation to the imagination”
“PLACES” is a place, a thousand places, where the gaze wanders and the visitor, invited to move around, to change point of view, loses the notion of scale; where nothing is imposed. » The white surfaces are so many screens on which each visitor can project their own visions, can imagine what they want. “PLACES” is a invitation to the imagination. It’s the viewer who makes the work,” comments Claudie Caspar, a little stressed and very impatient, a few days before the opening of the exhibition.
