The Christmas period is known to be conducive to thefts in businesses and homes. On the night of December 26 to 27, the bishopric of Puy, Place du For, was visited by burglars. “A few people broke into the bishopric,” confirms Mgr. Yves Baumgarten, who was not on the premises at the time of the crime. “They entered without committing a break-in, simply by entering the code at the entrance. It would seem that it circulates easily.”
“This is an event more shocking than damaging”
Once on the site, the team, made up of at least two criminals, allegedly searched several offices, leaving these spaces in disorder after their passage. “They took almost nothing, except a small cash box which was in an office and which contained a little cash to cover unforeseen expenses.” The damage amounts to a few hundred euros, no more. “It is an event more shocking than damaging”, analyzes the bishop of Haute-Loire who specifies that “the money collected during the quests does not pass through the bishopric”.
A complaint was filed at the police station. The police opened an investigation as part of which people were questioned in police custody. The intrusion of burglars in the night generated concern within the team close to the bishop. The access codes to the bishopric have obviously been changed since these events. “We do not take this flight lightly.”
