This Saturday, December 21, 2024, three people lost their lives in a road accident that occurred in the town of Mazières-en-Gâtine (Deux-Sèvres). The collision occurred on the departmental road 743 around 5 p.m. indicated La Nouvelle République.
Two vehicles collided at high speed. The shock was violent according to the observations made by the firefighters who intervened on site. The reasons for the collision are still unknown at this stage.
Emergency services arrived on the scene and found an 80-year-old woman, as well as a 76-year-old man and a 75-year-old passenger, all three in cardio-respiratory arrest. They could not be resuscitated.
Traffic disrupted
In order to allow emergency services to intervene safely, traffic was cut off on departmental road 743 for a good part of the evening.
The three victims were extricated but unfortunately could not be saved.
