The Hauts-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) was not spared from the IT war that the pro-Russian group NoName started. This Wednesday, January 1, 2025, hackers targeted several local authorities throughout France, from the regional council of Centre-Val de Loire, to the portal of the city of Montpellier, including the departments of Eure and Aude . The site of Enercoop, a French energy cooperative, is also affected.

This Tuesday, December 31, 2024, the cities of Nice, Tarbes, Pau, Marseille, Nîmes, as well as the departments of Landes and Haute-Garonne were also targeted. The Paris public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation, entrusted to the DGSI, the General Directorate of Internal Security. In 2023, the sites of the National Assembly and the Senate were temporarily paralyzed by attacks by this same pro-Russian collective.
This type of attacks had already been carried out by activists from the NoName group. This action started yesterday. Our colleagues from Franceinfo discovered on the social network Telegram that these attacks were intentional. The pro-Russian organization is doing this in response to French support for Ukraine. They celebrated their action on Telegram, explaining “celebrate Russophobic France for the coming new year.”
These attacks thus reinforce a climate of digital insecurity. Pro-Russian activists do not steal or leak any data. This is called a denial of service action. A specific login site is targeted until it crashes.
While investigating these cyberattacks, French authorities are calling on communities to strengthen cybersecurity. Communities are thus encouraged to use protection mechanisms which have the effect of making their websites inaccessible when they are targeted.
