Ziyed Fahd, born on December 31 at 8:51 p.m. in the maternity ward of Villeneuve-sur-Lot hospital, is the last Lot-et-Garonnais baby of the year 2024.
In 2024, there were 1,438 births at the maternity ward of Agen hospital, 609 at that of Marmande and 566 at that of Villeneuve-sur-Lot. It was also the Vallée du Lot health center which saw the birth of the last Lot-et-Garonnais baby of the year 2024, on December 31 at 8:51 p.m.: a little boy named Ziyed Fahd.
“Is he really the last baby of the year 2024? It’s surprising because 8:51 p.m. is not late,” says Yanis, 31, the baby’s father. “He could have been born on January 1, but as I was past term, they had to induce labor. He’s been a bit long in coming,” exclaims Youssra, 29, the toddler’s mother. “The birth went very well and was quite quick. The work lasted around twenty minutes,” adds Yanis.
Lot-et-Garonnais like his mother
Youssra and Yanis live in the Paris region. She is employed at the Hauts-de-Seine prefecture, in Nanterre, and he is a heating engineer. But they decided that their child would be born in Lot-et-Garonne, where Youssra is from. The young woman is, in fact, a native of Agen. “This is my first pregnancy and I preferred to finish it with my mother, who lives in Tonneins. It reassured me that she was there. I chose to give birth in Villeneuve-sur-Lot because this maternity hospital was recommended to me. Basically, I wanted Ziyed Fahd to be born at the Saint-Hilaire clinic in Agen, because that's where I was born. But it was not possible because there is no longer a maternity ward,” confides the latter. “I took care of her from A to Z. It’s her first child, it’s normal that I help her,” smiles her mother, who came to see her first grandson in the company of her in-laws.
Tired but “very happy”, Youssra was able to enjoy the first day of her son’s life surrounded by her family, who came in large numbers to see the latest addition to the family. “As long as my daughter has not left the maternity ward, I will stay at the Villeneuve-sur-Lot hospital,” says the maternal grandmother, smiling from ear to ear.
On this last day of last year, there were three other births at the Villeneuve maternity ward in addition to Ziyed Fahd. At the Agen-Nérac hospital center and the Marmande hospital, a single baby was born on December 31, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. for the Agen maternity hospital and at 7:39 p.m. for the Marmande health facility.
