For New Year's Eve, law enforcement and firefighters were on deck. In Morbihan, there were some news items on December 31, 2023 and January 1, 2025.
A big road check
The Pontivy Gendarmerie Company had announced a large-scale road check. It took place on New Year's Eve in the towns of Pontivy, Baud and Le Faouët.
This coordinated anti-delinquency operation brought together around thirty soldiers from the company, supported by a gendarmerie dog team from Châteaulin.
Here are the offenses noted on the 70 vehicles checked :
- a fine procedure for driving under the influence of alcohol
- two criminal proceedings for driving under the influence of alcohol
- a procedure for driving under drugs
- a procedure for lack of technical control
An accident in Saint-Aignan
A personal accident occurred at Saint-Aignan around 10:45 a.m. “A 79-year-old pedestrian traveling along the roadway cannot avoid a car whose driver loses control at the pedestrian’s level,” indicates the gendarmerie, which adds:
The latter tried to avoid the car but was hit on the hip and shoulder.
The victim complains of hip pain. She was transported to the Saint-Brieuc hospital center for examinations.
“The 43-year-old driver tested positive for alcohol and narcotics,” specifies the gendarmerie.
Accidental fire in a car
The Auray firefighters were mobilized for a car fire in a parking lot near the Ti Hanok cinema.
The fire would be of origin accidental and not voluntary. There were no injuries.
